SPARC Workshop 2026

Held Feb. 5–6, the Spatial Analysis Research Center at Arizona State University hosted the Critical Challenges of GeoAI Workshop bringing together researchers, GIScientists, geographers and educators to explore the present and future of GeoAI. Our school director David Sailor delivered the opening remarks and for his enormous support at the school level. Huge thanks as well to our keynote speakers, Michael Goodchild (UCSB), Rahul Ramachandran (NASA), May Yuan (UT Dallas), and Shashi Shekhar (UMN), for their forward-looking and thought-provoking talks, and to all participants for the 20+ lightning talks showcasing the amazing GeoAI research underway across the community. It was great to see the energy in the room, the smiles on everyone's face, and the collaborative spirit we built together. Seeing our thoughts converge and new ideas emerge really reinforces the openness, productivity, and resilience of the geospatial artificial intelligence community!
